Fairland Farm Tofu Thyme 1*M VVVV 86

Fairland Farm Tofu Thyme 1*M earning her dry leg

Updated 12/18/20

Our beloved Tofu was our first Nigerian Dwarf doe and just look what she started! She continues to be a personal favorite  Tofu has been bred numerous times since her c-section in 2017 but does not settle, most likely due to scar tissue  She reigns supreme over the herd and pulls babysitting duty but she is permanently retired from breeding

Tofu came to us as a bottle baby in 2014 and we could not be more thrilled with this doe. She is very long and dairy.  Her sire, Little Tot's Estate Acer Rubrum B*, won the 2014 Junior Get of Sire at the ADGA National Show.

Tofu was entered in 3 shows for 2015 which she took in stride. We were elated to receive 2nd place and Reserve senior yearling junior  behind half sister Sirius. Tofu was 1st place dry yearling and Grand Champion Jr Doe at the Tri State Show, earning her dry leg.

2015 Linear Appraisal saw Tofu scoring exctremely correct for shoulder assembly and body capacity and received V+EcV as her young stock appraisal.

Tofu's first freshening was tough but she learned to be a milk goat in a hurry. She went to a few shows and did reasonably well despite showing against second fresheners. Her litter sister did take 10th place 2 year old (second freshener) at the ADGA Nationals in 2016 for Fairland Farm which is very admirable. For LA in 2016, Tofu scored VVVV 86. She did very well milk testing earning her star in all 3 requirements. She routinely been produced 8% or more butterfat.

Tofu had to undergo a c-section in 2017 due to a kid presenting folded over and flank first. We were unable to get her dilated, maybe just as well since the kid was over 4 pounds and would have been very hard to turn.  She had buck twins sired by Rosasharn Moose Tracks*B but one of them died shortly after birth due to the anesthesia. The surviving buck is every bit as nice as we had hoped for from this pairing and we look forward to seeing him mature.

In 2018, Tofu had a false pregnancy and did not produce any kids. We workrd with our vet to see if we cpull get her settled for 2019 but it was not to be. It was a very exciting year for Tofu's litter sister CH Fairland Farm AR Luck O'Irish who was 2nd place 4 year old doe at Nationals in a class of over 60 highly competetive does, Irish also finished her championship that year.

MeadowMist MT Paprika

Tofu first freshened in 2016 with a very large single doeling. It was very hard to let Paprika go, but she got a wonderful home and we were limited to keeping 2 homebreds this year.

We had hoped to retain a doe from Tofu in 2017 but it was not to be. After 2 days of not dilating, Tofu had a c-section on 3/22/17.  One buck was lost due to anesthesia.  However, we were able to save the troublemaker who was laying folded up like a taco and trying to be born flank first. It took quite a bit to get him going but he has taken off and done very well ever since. We are very happy with his conformation so have forgiven him for being a buck.  She had a lovely second freshening udder but did not heal up soon enough for the show season.

2018 ended in disappointment as Tofu had given all appearances of being pregnant but most likely absorbed and continued with a false pregnancy. Her son Quinoa Thyme who spent his first year in Iowa has returned home and will be siring a few litters for 2019. Meanwhile we are working on trying to settle Tofu for 2019, plans are to breed her to Cats Cradle SR He's Dauntless.
