Ginger is arguably our best doe and she is fully aware of that. She maintains a regal bearing and does things on her own terms period. Any efforts to change her routine will earn the offender a stern stink eye look that leaves
nothing to interpretation! While she is not a dominant doe, none of the other girls ever challenge her. Her status is perhaps Empress, she does not do any other the leadership and disciplinary activities that the co-queens do (Turtle=Leader, Tofu=Disciplinarian),
that would be beneath her dignity. Luckily Ginger is an excellent mother and producer. We have retained 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters to date and they have a strong bond to the matriarch of the family.
SG Rosasharn SH Ginger Cake 5*M arrived at MeadowMist
in Oct 2015, and we are ecstatic to add her to our herd. Ginger is sired by Rosasharn BB Son of Honey +*B, one of Buckwheat Honey's successful sons, and a line that we were looking to add. Ginger earned her SG while at Rosasharn on an extended lactation.
We were pleasantly surprised to find that Ginger was included in both the summer 2016 and winter 2015 Elite Doe list. She was shown several times in 2016 and usually won her 4 year old class. Ginger scored VEEE 90 at our appraisal in 2016.
2017 and 2018 have been a bit tough for us so we ended up milking the herd once a day although we did milk through Dec. It showed in our production numbers, however Ginger did maintain her A status and positive PTI scores. 2019 is bringing a returned
commitment to our DHIA program including switching to the standard plan which will involve using an outside tester. Our goal is to see Ginger back on the Elite Doe list as she has proved to be very capable of.
